INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Walking Hiking Wicklow, the official website of Mountain Moor & Glen, an independent walking tour operator, which arranges guided hikes for small groups to the hidden heart the Wicklow mountains.

Hikes are of either one-day (6 to 7 hours) or half-day (3 to 4 hours) duration and all are guided by a member of our experienced group of hike leaders.

Our dedicated team, headed by Richard More-O’Ferrall, has decades of experience participating in and leading hikes and expeditions throughout Ireland, the Scottish highlands and in some of the world’s more remote wild upland regions.

WHO WE ARE

Richard and his wife Grania have operated Jigsaw Cottage, the widely known and very successful guest house located on the Wicklow Way, for the past ten years. Throughout this time they have played host to countless Wicklow Way walkers, many of whom have wished to explore the higher and more remote corners of the Wicklow mountains but, through a lack of an understanding and experience of mountain navigation, have been denied the opportunity. In 2009 Richard established Mountain Moor & Glen to offer an unforgettable hiking experience in the hidden upland wilderness at the very heart of county Wicklow. In addition to their guided walks programme, Mountain Moor & Glen arranges one or two day courses to demonstrate and introduce participants to the basic principles of mountain navigation.
